Curiosity got the better of Labour councillor George Lawlor recently as he paid a visit to the new social housing development being completed by Bawn Developments on Whiterock Hill.
Situated at the entrance to Whitebrook, many of the 44 housing units are at snagging stage and are expected to see tenants from Wexford County Council’s housing list moving in in the coming weeks.

The development mostly consists of one and two-bed apartments and the first phase of 22 are expected to be allocated very soon.

Cllr Lawlor took a look around the development and was impressed with what he saw.

“This is a fantastic development,” he said. “It’s got an unusual brick design, but it’s a classy finish and it really is more top class work from Bawn Developments, who have done a number of estates both for Wexford County Council and Approved Housing Bodies.”

Cllr Lawlor said that while a tranche of the properties will be listed on the Choice Based Letting system, where applicants on the local authority housing list can express an interest online, some will also be held back for people with additional needs and special requirements etc.

“This is hugely positive news,” Cllr Lawlor said. “And I look forward to seeing people collecting their keys in the coming weeks.”
